Special Events

Mary Holloway, Director of Special Events.

The Special Events department runs a huge range of cultural and educational events throughout the year, entailing everything from the Learn at Lunch lecture programs to book signings and private viewings of special museum exhibitions. Instructional and learning opportunities take place regularly in areas as diverse as bridge, foreign languages, figure drawing, dance and writing. Dinner theater outings are offered regularly to the LaSalle Bank Theatre, Cadillac Palace, Ford Oriental, Auditorium, Lyric and Symphony.  Live music takes place Thursdays and Fridays from September through May, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Presidents' Bar, and has featured such outstanding local performers as Jon Weber, Amy Armstrong, Spider Saloff, Joey Edwin, Paulinho Garcia and Hollis Resnik.
All events are described and published monthly in the member newsletter, the "76." Feel free to download the most current newsletter from the Home page of the University Club of Chicago members' only portion of the website. Nearly all events require reservations (so we can advise the speaker of crowd size, provide appropriate food, beverage and service and determine room size), so please make your reservations as early as possible.
